The Futura flexible transfer machining center can be composed of three, four or five stations and correspondingly two, three or four operating units.
The single operating modules derive from Billo’s single unit machining center concept and feature X and Y axes on ball recirculation precision cross slides and Z as spindle axis on ball recirculation screw. The two main axes X and Y are driven by a precision screw system with double ball recirculation slides mounted on linear guides, and moreover there is a damping cylinder installed in order to balance the weight of the whole unit and cross slide. X and Y axes travel at 30 m/min rapid speed. The Z axis on which the spindle moves is driven by a servo motor by means of a ball recirculation screw positioned on the spindle axis. Spindle motors can be chosen with power from 5,5 up to 7 kW depending on the needs, and the spindle nose has ISO 40 cone that is cleaned during each tool change by an air blow. In order to protect the single operating units from chips coming from other stations there are a number of separating panels between one operating unit and the next one. The clamping chucks are self-centring and orientating and feature 2 axes CN control like on the Billo machining center.
The machine is equipped with an automatic tool changing device in each of the machining stations and each operating module has its own tool magazine with 20 or 30 positions.
On request it is possible to mount multi spindle revolver heads on the machining unit as well, but in that case the tool magazine would be obviously missing.
